MEDICEN PARIS REGION’S GOVERNANCE
Medicen Paris Region’s governance is based on that of a not-for-profit association, in accordance with the Act dated July 1st 1901. It was first called "Meditech Santé Paris-Region", after the name of the project submitted in 2005 and changed name to Medicen Paris Region in July 2006.
The Cluster is mostly composed of companies (divided in two groups according to their sizes), universities, research organizations and hospitals (research Institutes, AP-HP), and regional/county local authorities. It strongly contributes to improve cooperation between all the players.
Given the Cluster's strong ability to influence and guide, the association's governance focuses on the Cluster's strategy and its review and selection of R&D projects with a view to accrediting them, the development of cohesion-generating collaborations and leadership of the Cluster's member network in cooperation with existing organizations.
The association is made up of ordinary members and honorary members - the latter are qualified persons nominated by the Board of Directors but who lack voting rights in the association's deliberative bodies.
The ordinary members, organizations and public authorities are divided into four electoral colleges:
- the "Small Companies" electoral college.
- the "Large Companies” electoral college.
- the "Academia & Research" electoral college, which includes research organizations, medical centers and higher education & research establishments, and organizations that support creation and development of research companies .
- the "State, Region & Local Governing Bodies" electoral college (local authorities and their respective economic development agencies).
